The new hybrid bus, which runs on both LN2 and diesel, has also successfully completed rigorous trials and tests. The CE Power uses alternative propulsion to tackle various air pollution-related concerns. The bus is integrated with a common diesel engine along with a LN2-powered Dearman Engine with zero emission and higher efficiency. The hybrid system of the bus allows it to decrease toxic tail-pipe emission levels while speeding up after stopping and enhancing local air quality.
While the bus is at below 20 mph, the LN2, in a low-pressure cylinder, warms up and generates sufficient pressure to drive the Dearman engine. When the bus reaches at 20 mph, its diesel engine kicks in, since at this speed the bus requires lesser efforts to operate.
